Savers thrift store coming to former King Kullen space in Hewlett

The chain plans to open next year at the Peninsula shopping center, and has also leased the former Chase Bank building on the property.

Savers, the national thrift-store chain, plans to open a store in Hewlett next year in the former King Kullen supermarket space at the shopping center on Peninsula, according to 5 Towns Central. The Hewlett location would be the chain's ninth on Long Island, which the report says currently has eight.

The company has also leased the former Chase Bank building on the same property, a freestanding structure with a drive-through. The report says Savers has not publicly finalized its plans for that building, which could be used as an extension of the store or for another purpose, such as a donation drop-off point. It is not known what the company will do with it.

What we could not confirm

The opening date, the store's size, and any hiring plans were not stated. The source does not say what the company will do with the former Chase building.
