Overnight closures on Nassau Expressway for about six weeks
Both directions between Burnside Avenue and the Atlantic Beach Bridge will close on weeknights while the state resurfaces the asphalt.
The state Department of Transportation will close both directions of Nassau Expressway (Route 878) between Burnside Avenue and the Atlantic Beach Bridge in Lawrence on weeknights from 10 PM to 6 AM, according to 5 Towns Central. The closures are scheduled to last about six weeks and began this week, starting October 12.
The work is asphalt resurfacing. Detours will be in place for drivers during the closure hours. Anyone traveling through that stretch overnight on weeknights should plan a route in advance.
