Machaneh Hakayitz and Simcha Day Camp to close, new Camp Malchus set for 2027

Yeshiva Darchei Torah is folding two summer programs into one new camp on its Far Rockaway campus.

Yeshiva Darchei Torah has announced it will close Simcha Day Camp and Machaneh Hakayitz and open a new program, Camp Malchus, for Summer 2027. The decision was shared in a letter to the community from the yeshiva's hanhala.

The yeshiva said it no longer makes sense to run two camps simultaneously on the same campus, even though both have been successful and served thousands of children from Far Rockaway, the Five Towns and beyond. Simcha Day Camp came with the campus purchase in 1990, and Machaneh Hakayitz opened in 2009.

Camp Malchus is described as an entirely new program, not a rebrand, with new activities, projects and trips on the 9-acre campus. Further details are expected in the coming weeks.

What we could not confirm

The source does not say why it no longer makes sense to run both camps, nor what will happen to current staff or campers mid-enrollment.
