Lawrence honors Fourth Precinct officers and a retiring auxiliary officer

Village board presented proclamations to Commanding Officer Matt Schiller, Lt. Charles Sollin and Auxiliary Officer Jon Eidler.

The Village of Lawrence recognized Fourth Precinct Commanding Officer Matt Schiller and Lieutenant Charles Sollin of the Nassau County Police Department, according to 5 Towns Central. Mayor Samuel (Shlomo) Nahmias presented both men with Village proclamations at the September Village Board meeting, citing their service and partnership with the Village.

Mayor Nahmias said the safety of residents is among the Village's highest priorities and thanked the officers and the entire Fourth Precinct for their work in Lawrence. The Village also honored Auxiliary Police Officer Jon Eidler, a longtime resident who retired from the Nassau County Auxiliary Police at the end of September after 20 years of service. The report says Eidler regularly provided security and assistance at Village Board meetings for about 15 years and served at community events.

What we could not confirm

The source does not say what prompted the honors beyond general appreciation, and it gives no details on Eidler's plans after retirement.
