Village of Lawrence hosts summer concert and fireworks show
More than 5,000 people gathered at the Lawrence Yacht & Country Club driving range on August 30 for a free evening of music, fireworks and a kosher barbecue.
On August 30, more than 5,000 residents and visitors gathered at the Lawrence Yacht & Country Club driving range for the village's annual summer concert and fireworks show, according to 5 Towns Central. The free event featured live music from singer Joey Newcomb, a fireworks display over the waterfront, and a kosher barbecue prepared by Elite Catering. Guests brought lawn chairs and blankets to watch the show.
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, Town of Hempstead Supervisor John Ferretti, Presiding Officer Howard Kopel, Assemblyman Ari Brown and Receiver of Taxes Jeanine Driscoll attended. Mayor Samuel Nahmias said the event fulfilled a dream of bringing the celebration to Lawrence, and Ferretti praised Nahmias and the village board. Blakeman tied the evening to the nation's 250th anniversary and led a countdown to the fireworks by Grucci.
The village thanked trustees, staff, police and emergency crews, and listed sponsors including Fame & SKI Development, Maidenbaum, Rita's Ices, the Marion & Aaron Gural JCC, Prime Bistro and Seasons Lawrence.
