Lawrence and Liberty Water near completion of joint infrastructure project
Water main replacements are done ahead of street repaving across village roadways.
The Village of Lawrence said its infrastructure project with Liberty Water is in its final stages. Liberty Water chose the upgrades after reviewing pipe age, repair history and customer complaints about water pressure and service. The work is meant to address pressure deficiencies, handle added demand and improve water quality.
Liberty Water finished subterranean water main replacements before paving starts, so crews will not have to cut into fresh asphalt. Mayor Samuel Nahmias thanked Liberty for coordinating road repairs with new piping and called replacing aging infrastructure a smart investment that protects newly resurfaced streets from future utility excavations.
Final paving is scheduled over the coming weeks, through September and October, with minimal impact to traffic, according to 5 Towns Central.
