Woodmere Middle School named 2026 AMLE School of Distinction
One of 39 schools recognized by the Association for Middle Level Education.
Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools announced Aug. 17 that Woodmere Middle School has been named a 2026 School of Distinction by the Association for Middle Level Education. The school is one of 39 selected for the award, which recognizes middle schools implementing the attributes and characteristics identified in AMLE's position paper 'The Successful Middle School: This We Believe.'
The designation came through an application and review process that included a school-wide assessment, continuous improvement planning, and stakeholder interviews with staff, students, and families, the district said. The district credited Principal John Andruszkiewicz, Assistant Principal Dr. Richard Mangeri, and the school's faculty and staff.
Woodmere Middle School will present its practices at AMLE26, the association's 53rd annual conference, in November in Nashville, Tennessee.
