Five Towns mourns HAFTR teacher Allison Rahmani's death
Allison Rahmani, 40, died Aug. 21 after crashing her SUV into a pool at her Hewlett Bay Park home. Police suspect a medical emergency.
The Five Towns community is mourning the loss of Allison Rahmani, a teacher and math coordinator at the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway (HAFTR). Rahmani, 40, died Aug. 21 after her SUV crashed into an in-ground swimming pool at her Hewlett Bay Park home on Elinor Road. Police said she lost control, struck a tree and an unoccupied Honda before plunging into the pool. She was removed from the vehicle before officers arrived and was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities said foul play is not suspected and believe Rahmani may have suffered a sudden medical emergency. She is survived by her husband, Matthew, and four children. At her funeral at Boulevard-Riverside Chapels in Hewlett, Matthew and her mother, Rachelle Rohde, delivered eulogies. HAFTR officials said the school community is grieving her death.
