Far Rockaway man charged in Inwood e-bike robbery, police seize stolen gun

Two teens were threatened at gunpoint; suspect arrested without incident, police say.

The Fourth Squad arrested a 26-year-old Far Rockaway man for an e-bike robbery in Inwood on Aug. 29, according to 5 Towns Central. Police said two 15-year-old boys were riding near Bayview Avenue at about 9:34 p.m. when a man approached them with a handgun and demanded the bike.

The teens complied out of fear, and the suspect fled on the e-bike. Fourth Precinct officers later took him into custody at his home on Village Lane without incident and recovered a stolen firearm. No injuries were reported.

The man faces charges including first-degree robbery, two counts of first-degree criminal use of a firearm, second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and second-degree menacing. He was arraigned Aug. 30 at First District Court in Hempstead.

The victims' e-bike was not reported recovered, the connection between the stolen firearm and the robbery was not specified, and the suspect's full name was not released.
