Woodmere Music Studios marks 26 years with annual recital
The Lynbrook Public Library will host the June 29 performance featuring students from beginners to college-bound musicians.
Woodmere Music Studios will hold its 26th annual recital on June 29 at 7:15 p.m. at the Lynbrook Public Library, according to the Nassau Herald. Students will perform on piano, guitar, violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, saxophone and voice.
Founder and director Patricia Lee said the studio has taught thousands of students in the community over the years, framing the recitals as a way to teach goal setting alongside music. The studio holds workshops and recitals three times a year to build students' confidence and presentation skills, Lee said, though participation is not required.
Among this year's performers is Hewlett High School sophomore Derin Artan, 15, who has studied at the studio since age 4 and will perform the Brahms Cello Sonata. Also performing is Claudia Lee, the director's daughter, 17, a Hewlett High School graduate heading to the University of Michigan's School of Music, Theatre and Dance this fall to major in choral music education. Claudia, a student at the studio for 12 years, will perform Undine Smith Moore's "Love Let the Wind Cry, How I Adore Thee," the piece she used for her college auditions.
